Spring + The First Quarter Moon

Spring + The First Quarter Moon

A seasonal look at the mirrors of the earth.

There is so much joyful magic and meaning to be made during spring, but beforehand: a quick body check in and a gentle attunement to your positionality in the world. How does spring feel in your body? Perhaps there’s a cardinal pull, bringing you closer to action with every breath. Maybe there’s tension, an inherent resistance to the pull. How does spring feel in your mind? Are you hopeful? Energized? Depleted? Resourced? And then notice how the two relate. Is your body on the same page as your mind? Hold this information with curiosity and without judgement.

A sweet sense of hope and excitement fills the air as spring breezes in; there's a wind of change, the promise of new growth, and an ecosystem going down what is a very familiar journey. Spring offers a unique chance to get good with the middle ground, to lean into the center while still exploring the edges, to steer away from stark contrasts and explore cohesive visions. You can lean further into spring by honoring the first quarter moon phase.

Let’s consider the waters we’re emerging from for a moment. Pisces season, the end of winter, the moon phase new. Pisces offers a blank slate that has been painted with the watercolors of dreams, creating a springboard for Aries to launch from. The new moon phase is a time of rest, clarity around intentions, and a cyclical energetic reboot.

The first quarter phase is action, is momentum. We see this in the way the season of spring is also the start of Aries season; it’s a cosmic invitation to reach for what you want with leaps and bounds. Fire turns the wheel of the year, using cardinal charm to keep us moving. This isn’t the time for dreaming into you want, it’s honoring the dreams you’ve already imagined and bringing them to fruition. It’s the time to trust that your dreams are sound and that they can come to life. Action is magic. Every step you take towards the life you want is magic. We tend to romanticize the polarities of the moon, celebrating the fresh start + new intentions or relishing in fruition, but spring isn’t about the final destination. It isn’t the beginning or the end. Spring is the journey on the cobbled path, leading you forward with seeds planted, action taken towards creation. And that’s worthy of celebration.

This spring, work with the first quarter moon by celebrating every action you take that is in alignment with your dreams. Take inventory on where your energy is going and redirect it if it’s not in support of the life you want for yourself. Trust that your no is just as sacred as your yes.
